How the price is calculated

Every line in the price breakdown, with a worked example.

The price you see before you pay is the price you pay. There is nothing added at checkout.

What makes up the total

LineWhat it is
Nightly rate × nightsSet by the host.
Cleaning feeSet by the host. A one-off charge, not per night.
Service fee (12%)Our fee, charged on the room subtotal. It is how the platform runs.
Taxes (VAT, 15%)Applied to the room subtotal plus cleaning, and remitted to the authorities.

A worked example

A place at $50 a night, booked for 3 nights, with a $20 cleaning fee:

$50.00 × 3 nights$150.00
Cleaning fee$20.00
Service fee (12% of $150.00)$18.00
Taxes (15% of $170.00)$25.50
You pay$213.50

On the same booking, the host is charged a 2% host service fee on the room subtotal, and receives the rest — see "How much you earn as a host".

These rates can change. The rate shown at the time you book is the rate applied to that booking — a later change never affects a booking already made.
