What makes up the total

| Taxes (VAT, 15%) | Applied to the room subtotal plus cleaning, and remitted to the authorities. |
A worked example
A place at $50 a night, booked for 3 nights, with a $20 cleaning fee:

On the same booking, the host is charged a 2% host service fee on the room subtotal, and receives the rest — see "How much you earn as a host".
These rates can change. The rate shown at the time you book is the rate applied to that booking — a later change never affects a booking already made.
